This review is from: KOHLER K-6539-0 Drainboard, White (Tools & Home Improvement) If you have a drop in Kohler cast iron sink with a high lip , the built in drain spout is high enough to fit snugly over the edge of the sink, it's made of rigid plastic that will not sag as well. It's large enough to hold a standard folding wood dish rack but the large wood rack from Ikea is too big. The standard rack that comes with it is quite small.
Update: It is small and I use it in combination with a IKEA wood rack for larger items. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: KOHLER K-6539-0 Drainboard, White (Tools & Home Improvement) I purchased this since my sink has a high lip and I've been unable to find a drainboard high enough to go over the lip. The drainboard is very high quality and should last a long time, it's high enough to fit over most any sink lip. The drainboard should last a long time. The included dish rack is small and is designed just to hold plates. It too is of sturdy construction and should hold up well. It is completely separate from the drainboard so it can be replaced or interchanged depending on need. I purchased this together with "Garden Botanika The Original Dish Drying Mat" I plan on using a regular dish rack for glasses, silverware, pots and pans on the drainboard, and the plates can be set beside in the plate rack with the drying mat underneath. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Guru (New England, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: KOHLER K-6539-0 Drainboard, White (Tools & Home Improvement) While it's the only drainboard that's high enough to clear a lipped sink, it is NOT engineered to actually drain into the sink (and it's called a 'drain' board because...?). The front & back risers are the same height and the horizontal surface really is arched (as appears in the photo) so the water just collects on the board, gravitating to the front & back until tipped into the sink. Why there is a gap at the back (just waiting to allow collected water to overflow onto the counter) remains a mystery. Begs the question: what part of gravitational flow did the designer(s) fail to comprehend, especially since Kohler's drop-in sinks present the clearance/draining problem. Had to tuck a booster under the back edge to channel water to the drain spout. It is sturdy and, with my booster block (piece of wood 10"L x 2"W x 1-1/2"H), does the job. Unless you only wash plates, the included rack is superfluous, but it will accommodate a regular dish rack (small or medium...Read more |
