Beautiful and low maintenance,

I got this sink in black anthracite. When it came out of the box, and especially after installing it, it was discolored from grout and other stuff. I was worried sick that it wouldn't look nice, especially when soap and water failed to make it a nice black again. But after checking a small test area, I rubbed a little WD-40 onto it with a paper towel, and voila, it looked like new and has stayed looking new for weeks. I've hardly ever had to clean this sink, unlike the old porcelain sink it replaced, which had to be cleaned almost daily with Bon Ami. It is beautiful looking and requires very little care. What more can you ask for?

Looks nice! but watch out for long term care,

We purchased the black sink two years ago to go with our new granite counters. It looks very nice but it does need a little upkeep, long term, the color will look a little washed out and discolored with constant use, but with a good scrubing and some polish you can bring it back to its just new look. I got a product at a local hardware store called Marble and Granite Magic, and after a good scrubbing I apply the spray and the sink is back to new looking. I do this periodically and I can still get it to look new. I have also tried furniture polish or even vegetable oil, it is usually enough to give it back its original sheen.

blanco sinks do not retain luster,

We bought a Silgranite black sink after admiring it at Home Depot several years ago. We thought surely the products to maintain it would be easily available but found differently. Most sellers of Blancoclean were commercial tile places and many did not sell to the public. Since the first week we installed the sink it did not retain its beautiful black luster. We fortunately bought several bottles of Blancoclean when we purchased our sink because it has not been readily available, even on the internet, until recently. There was also a Blanco Silgranit luster type polish in the Home Depot literature, which we have never found, and no longer see on the internet. We do regularly use Blancoclean and keep the sink wiped and free of debris but the shine is gone. Maybe a lighter color sink would not look so dried out and tired.
Be careful using products with petroleum distillates such as WD-40 since they could damage the sink and void your warranty. Read the warranty, ours...Read more
